What I read
Audiobooks! Even though my wife says that isn't truly reading. I love books on business, technology and some fiction. Some of my faves include: The Bible, Daemon and Freedom T.M. by Daniel Suarez, anything by Malcolm Gladwell, Predictably Irrational by Dan Ariely. I recently finished Six Frigates by Ian W. Toll.
What I want to learn
I'm currently studying to increase my time management skills. I plan on pushing deep into Java development for Android. Mobile dev is where things have been moving. It would also be great to dig deeper into Python development for some of that complicated stuff.
How I like to work
I love throwing on the headphones, cranking a song that has killer energy, pushing the Repeat button, and coding for 10 hours straight. Large amounts of caffeine usually come into play as well.
About Timothy
Timothy jokes that he started building websites back in high school because he couldn't find a date for the weekends. Those were the days of GeoCities, PhotoShop 4, and computers that had “massive” 400MB hard drives. Much has changed since then.
Prior to hiring on at River City Studio, Timothy spent about a decade living and working in the unofficial Open Source capitol of the U.S,. Utah. Utah has one of the most thriving PHP communities and also has yearly Open Source conferences that bring in names like Fedora and Novel. During that decade, Timothy ran his own business, doing high-end web development, catering to small businesses and design/web firms that could only handle lightweight web dev projects internally.
Timothy now runs the web development department for River City Studio. Many recent changes in the department include a massive boost to security, a new hosting server stack, a new software platform called ePulsar and the fresh approach of web developers striving to put out amazing, high-quality systems. The web dev team is also pushing hard into the mobile arena and working up tools to do more with the various web services that are out there in the world today.
