What I enjoy most (in no particular order)
Chocolate and almonds (together)— not that I'm opposed to just chocolate, but you can't go wrong with both. Lots of color— Yeah, I like the rainbow. Go figure. Listening to music — my playlist is the eclectic one. Being outside — camping, biking, swimming, skiing, running or just chilling on the porch. As long as it's outside, I'm good. Halloween parties! Come on, the chance to get groups of people from different slices of life all dressed up, add some food and alcohol, mix them up and watch them have fun. Love it! The computer— work on it, play on it, live on it. Need I say more? Lego Star Wars — The Complete Saga on the Wii – endless hours of playtime. Family and friends and get–togethers with any combination. Traveling — I'm up for the adventure. My cats, Ellie and Minnie…
What I'm listening to
What I would do if I had a billion dollars (no particular order)
- Solve world peace, hunger and inequality in one fell swoop.
- Operate a little coffee shop/bike store somewhere closer to the equator near water and the mountains. Well, someone else would run it. I’d just show up.
- Give the educators of our nation a huge raise.
- Travel a lot – as many countries as I could.
- Have an unlimited supply of chocolate and almond ice cream, complete with personal trainer to work it all off.
- Go back to school and learn everything I always wanted to learn and relearn everything I’ve forgotten along the way.
- Create a national program to renovate old schools/buildings into thriving community centers.
- Speaking of refurbing… I think I'd finally finish my current 20-year house project early.
- Go to way more plays, musicals and concerts!
- Spend more time making art.
About Scott
What Scott learned from his father: Don't talk with your mouth full; you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink; treat everyone the way you want to be treated yourself; and "my way" is always the right way. (That's not to say Scott's a control freak. Although some would call him a control enthusiast, he likes to think he's just particular.)
Scott is a laid-back easy-going kind of guy who likes to work on his house and hang with his friends, family and two cats. Born and raised here in the Midwest by a hard-working farmer and a schoolteacher, he grew up with 4-H, Bible school and a drive to create stuff.
Scott was taught to enjoy what he does, work hard and always do his best, and he believes it was living by those rules that led to his 4-H-award-winning macramé lawn chair (no, really) and to winning a national ADA poster contest in college. Though his parents thought he'd never make it, he graduated cum laude with a BFA in graphic design.
Since graduating, Scott has continued working on the computer in many capacities. From an agency traffic manager, computer service manager at Kinko's and production artist at an ad agency, he finally made it to River City Studio as web developer. During the past 10 years at River City, he has blended into more of a hybrid designer and developer.
Scott loves working on the huge range of jobs that he does at River City. You can usually find him low-riding in his chair, headphones on, music up and fingers coding away in Coda, designing in Fireworks or creating in Flash. While he's still learning PHP and Javascript, front-end HTML, CSS and Flash are his strong points for websites. He also designs and builds out static and Flash web banners, interactive CDs, demos and tutorials.
Oh, he's also on the kitty committee, helping take care of Melia, River City Studio's resident cat.
