What I love
My life – I want to enjoy my wonderful family and live each day that I am given. My kids are my greatest gift and have blessed me with eight grandkids. That is what life is about…enjoying the moments with them. I love my dogs, Duke — a very LARGE, 12-pound Jack Russell with a 75-pound attitude — and dear, sweet Phoebe, the CEO of the Dulaney family. I love it when my kids or my grandkids say, “I love you.” I love to travel. If I could, I would not live anywhere and travel everywhere. I love to travel with my husband, Spencer, especially to Monterey, California. However, our favorite way to travel is by cruise ship, anywhere and for as long as possible!
I love a great pork chop at Patti's 1880s Settlement in Grand Rivers, Kentucky. A magical destination, especially at Christmas.
What I read
Anything I haven't already read. I don't like picking up a book and finding that I have already read it, but it happens. I enjoy Janet Evanovich, the Stephanie Plum series. I just discovered the author Hannah Kristen. GET THE KLEENEX OUT! She is an awesome writer. I often read self-help/motivational books…I need all the help I can get to figure me out, someday.
I love to read, either on my Kindle app on my Android phone (I have over 100 books downloaded, including my Bible. I'm sure people at church think I am playing games) or with a real book. I call it relaxation therapy, especially if it is in a deck chair on a cruise ship.
What I say
"I don't have my planner, I can't think."
"My life is written in pencil, with a really big eraser, so I can do it!"
About Rose
Rose was born in Central Illinois after President Lincoln but before President Obama (just barely). Her family moved to Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri, in 1970. She went to work at 13, and for two summers pumped gas on a boat dock and was a waitressed on a floating restaurant. Her parents had two restaurants and a heating and air conditioning business, so she was free labor for a long time.
At 21, Rose decided to become a truck driver, not the typical profession for a 70s girl. She was one of the first female truck drivers at National Carriers in Liberal, Kansas, and loved it. She visited 48 states in her two years driving.
After that adventure, Rose decided to have a few kids and be a stay-at-home mom. Years later, she burned out on the staying at home thing and decided to go back into the workforce at KCB Bank, in Kearney, Missouri, while continuing her education in finance and business. She held just about every position at the bank, except president. That job was already taken.
Then, again, Rose felt the need for something new. She "retired" from the bank and moved to Kentucky Lake, Kentucky, in 2007, where she was much closer to her favorite pork chops at Patti's 1880s Settlement. She and her husband Spencer lived on the lake in an log cabin. She stayed at home for a few years and enjoyed her favorite hobby — quilting. Then her fingers got sore, and she needed to go back to work.
Rose and Spencer moved back to the Kansas City area in 2009 and she started at River City Studio in January 2011. She hopes she has found a "home" for a while because she loves working with this great group of professionals.
One of Rose's "bigger" accomplishments is a very personal journey for her. After 40 years of being extremely overweight, she made the decision to have bariatric surgery in March 2010. She has lost 110 pounds and is enjoying her life. FINALLY, the weight on her driver's license is right!!!!
