What I love
The sun, my boys giggling, my wife's friendship (and cooking), my extended family (even as dysfunctional as it is).
What I listen to
Pandora. Variety is good. I just don't have the time anymore to be on the cutting edge of music. I'll leave that to others and subscribe to the trickle-down theory.
What I ride
In my free time, I love racing bikes. I have been doing it for close to 20 years, and it has been my passion/mental break outside of work. I still race competitively, both locally and regionally. I especially look forward to participating this year in the 2010/2011 National & World Championships for cyclo-cross.
About David
Out of college, David managed a specialty outdoor store for a national brand. It was a great experience and offered a lot of opportunities and personal growth. After that, he was a Web store manager for a local sporting goods company with a dynamic product line and a variety of job duties (website maintenance and merchandising, fulfillment, photography, inventory and customer service, to name a few). It was definitely a multi-task, wear-many-hats, high-paced kind of business. The days just flew by.
Towards the end of his employment with the sporting goods company, David and his wife decided to start a family and thought getting back to the Midwest would be best for them and their family. David was able to transition his job to work remotely from home by focusing on Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
During this time, he worked with a third-party consultant who taught him the ropes of SEO. After a year of partnering with the SEO company, he went to work for them but in a reversed role, where he was the consultant providing training for other companies. This transitioned into his becoming the account manager for some pretty big retailers, such as Buckle, Horchow, Fossil and Oriental Trading Company, among others.
As his family grew up, David wanted to get back into an office setting, which lead him to River City Studio. In his position (search engine marketing specialist), his role has expanded to include local search optimization, analytics and PPC, as well as SEO.
