the business of design
While most design and Web firms get really excited about awards, we get excited about results. (Actually, I get excited for Monday mornings when everyone is back at work, ready to pet me and warm their laps.)
Oh, yes, River City has earned plenty of awards for great design. They sit here and there around the studio, collecting dust and reducing the number of places I can relax for yet another nap. However, it's the other plaques on the wall that tells why River City is unique in this industry. Some of them include:
2007 — "Best of Web Developers in Kansas City" by Ingram's Magazine
2000 — Deb Turpin named to the Inaugural Class of Top 25 Women Who Mean Business in Kansas City
2000 — First-ever Small Business Philanthropist of the Year
2000 — Directors Award for Entrepreneurial Achievement to Deb Turpin
1999 — Advertising Club of Kansas City's Advertising Executive of the Year to Deb Turpin
1995 — Kansas City Chamber of Commerce Top 10 Small Business of the Year
Great design is important, but even more important is ROI — the return on your investment in the work these over-achieving River City folks do for you.
If our package design, brand identity, corporate sales materials, strategic planning, database development, e-mail blasts or interactive marketing programs don't improve your bottom line, then we're just like most other design companies out there. (Except, of course, THEY don't have ME reducing their stress to enhance final results.) But our 23-year track record is decidedly different.
Our founder, Deb Turpin, gets around. In fact, she's rather exhausting to watch; darting here and there and everywhere. I try to stay out of her way to avoid yet another one of those tail-stepping-on incidents. I do know she's very involved in the Kansas City business community because that's our business — helping companies and non-profit organizations improve their bottom line.
She sits on the board of multiple non-profits as well as a bank. She can read spreadsheets and balance sheets and puts together remarkable strategic plans and budgets. Because great design without a budget and a plan is, well…expensive.
If you'd like to learn more about how River City can improve your bottom line, just pick up the phone and call Deb at 816-480-3990. Or e-mail sales@rivercitystudio.com.
And keep your tail at arm's length.
